This past year and a half has been an extremely difficult and traumatizing time for many of us, and the best way I can think to cope is to laugh. I love to make things that make people laugh in any capacity, and that is what I wanted to convey with this zine. I was also inspired by the Dada art movement that came out of the aftermath of the first world war in Zurich. It’s main goal was humor and it was mostly nonsense that people made to cope with the horrors of the war. It feels like perhaps that movement may gain popularity again in the hopeful aftermath of this pandemic. The title of my zine is a nod to the late Mac Miller, who’s music I have also been using to cope throughout this pandemic. I think this project went very well, however I would like to have done more collage than I ended up doing. I would really love to do something like this again, having physical formats of art that you’ve made is very satisfying.
